Bachelor of Physiotherapy

Concept of Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy is a holistic healthcare profession focusing on physical impairments and disabilities, employing evidence-based practice, exercise, manual therapy, pain management, and injury prevention. It aims to improve physical functioning, quality of life, and mobility through personalized exercise programs, manual therapy, hydrotherapy, and electrotherapy. Physiotherapists address a wide range of conditions from musculoskeletal to neurological disorders, emphasizing movement, strength, and functional abilities. The field continues to evolve, emphasizing a human science approach to deepen understanding and enhance clinical practice. A career in physiotherapy helps patients to regain, preserve, and optimize their function, movement, strength, and general well-being. The phrases "physiotherapist" and "physical therapist," as well as "physiotherapy" and "physical therapy," have the same meaning and are interchangeable. In-depth understanding of the physiological processes of the body combined with specific practical clinical abilities enable physiotherapists to examine, diagnose, and treat sickness, injury, and disability symptoms. Physiotherapy encompasses not only injury prevention but also health and fitness promotion. To help address a patient's healthcare needs, physiotherapists frequently collaborate with other medical specialists in teams.

Upon completion of the program, graduates are eligible to register as physiotherapists with the Indian Association of Physiotherapists (IAP). Graduates can work in a range of settings, including hospitals, private clinics, sports organizations, rehabilitation centers, and community health centers. The program prepares students for a rewarding career in healthcare, where they can make a significant impact on improving patients' quality of life.
